Rome – This morning se had a sleep in due to everyone’s hectic past few days. Peter cooked breakfast before we headed out to explore Rome with Kirstie.
First just around where we are staying, my first top spot to visit what else but the Trevi fountain, but guess what just for a change it’s fully under repair. Hopes and dreams of visiting the Trevi fountain with my daughter dashed, but by this stage it just gets too funny. In Europe every where we have been every major site is under repair, 2014 is not the year to see these things, but to make up for it they do at least cover the scaffold in nicely. Bad luck just have a great excuse to come back. So the Trevi fails to impress let’s try the Spanish steps, no it’s under repair too, but as our guide the next day said, “their just bloody steps” so onto then the Borghese gardens, to chill out for a bit, but no let’s hire some Segways. This turned out to be heaps of fun, except the guy insisted in giving us on a tour, I think it was because he had the hots for Kirstie as every time peter and I looked at something he was trying to chat her up, got to love a language barrier.
I got the dud Segway with the speed limiter on , so half way through I made the guy swap his with mine, nearly at the end it broke down, so it was pretty funny seeing him walking it back. Then when he did get back he gives us the big European kisses like old friends. After the Segway tour we watched the sunset at the top of the gardens looking over the city.
We then popped into a cool little bar called Gusto for happy hour. Nice day 1 in Rome.
