Kangaroo Island is a ferry ride away from the mainland, SeaLink operates the ferry service between mainland South Australia and Kangaroo Island. Each crossing takes approximately 45 minutes and departs from Cape Jervis which is a 1.5 hour drive south of Adelaide, through the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula.

The top things to do on our list are in order, The Remarkable Rocks in the Flinders Chase National Park, is a definite No 1 attraction for Nature lovers!

Who doesn’t love an old Light house? The historic pretty Cape du Couedic Lighthouse is one not to miss on Kangaroo Island, picture perfect with spectacular sea views back towards the Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch.

Onwards to Admirals Arch boardwalk to an easy ten minute walk on a boardwalk around the cliff face, to a viewing platform overlooking the Admirals Arch. Lookout the fur seals, frolicking around the rocks with out a care in the world for who is watching from above!

Stokes Beach

Stokes Beach Surprise, as you drive up to this average looking rocky beach, but hop out of the car and wander to the right along the beach through some rocks to a pristine beach! You will not be disappointed, on a warm day go prepared to spend the day here!

By this time you may need a refreshment, and if you like a G & T, Kangaroo Island Spirts is definitely a must stop by! Not only is the Gin Memorable also the Cheese Platter to go with our Gin Cocktails was very nice too.

Kingscote Farmers Market

If you love a good farmers market, don’t miss this one if you happen to be here on the 2nd or 4th Sunday of the month, The Kingscote Farmers and Artisan Market, at Kingscote Wharf.  Kingscote Farmers and Artisan Market showcases some of Kangaroo Island’s Artisan producers, Art and crafts, produce and food in all shapes and forms! Stop by and say hi, to these two Characters!

Now for Dinner to be sorted, The Odd Plate Restaurant was a five star experience for us. The food was made with fresh locally sourced produce, with friendly Island service and the setting is really beautiful. We Stayed on the premises at the newly renovated Seaview Motel, so we could indulge in a couple more glasses of Vino! A perfect location on Kangaroo Island to walk into Kingscote township and explore the Island.

One for the Kids or Animal Lover, Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park is a great attraction on the Island. Here you can learn about the local animals and have an up close and personal encounter with a few of the local crew!

Dudley Wines

Kangaroo Island is home to a few wineries, we visited Dudley Wines (1153 Cape Willoughby Road, Penneshaw) This Winery has it all, a Stunning Location, beautiful food, wine and service. Do yourself a favour stop by and have a tasting at the Cellar door, then treat yourself to the One Hole, One Par Golfing Experience. Here you buy a bucket of balls and tee off to a picture postcard view of the sea, and see how far you can hit the ball! If your lucky to be there on a Sunday Vibes session, check the website.

The Oyster Farm Shop

Arriving on Kangaroo island we followed the signs to America Bay, to sample some fresh Kangaroo Island Oysters and Greenlip abalone farmed inland at Smith Bay on the North coast of Kangaroo Island using the clean, fresh pristine waters to grow them to market sizes. If you love Oysters, make sure to make a pitstop at The Oyster Farm Shop, then take a stroll over the road to watch the local fishermen along the jetty, or the locals out on their Dragon Boat!

Prospect Hill Lookout

With all the Delicious food and Wine here, best make a plan to run up to the top of Prospect Hill and burn a few calories off, while checking out the Magnificent Views of the bay below!

There is so much more to see and do on Kangaroo Island, but as we only had three days to make the most of, we are planning on going to stay much longer next time!
