21 December 2019
After a huge couple of months renovating, gardening and working on our home we flew to the Gold Coast with Sam. Arriving around five Ana picked us up from the airport to our apartment Le Beach Apartments at Burleigh heads, to a nice surprise waiting Kirstie and Ollie after a year not seeing her! A quick catch up and off to Miami Marketta for dinner. Surprise Surprise the show The Briefs (drag) do Christmas is not sold out! Yay for me not the others as I haven’t laughed so much in ages! The others didn’t really see the funny side to my level! As we had only just met Ollie, he was feeling very awkward with a drag queen in bikinis standing right beside him. He didn’t know us and you could see in his face how nervous he was, unfortunately to my sick humour I thought was pretty funny. Sorry Ollie!
Sunday 22nd December
Walked down early to James street for breakfast and met Kirstie and Ollie. Weather not looking ideal we decided to take Ollie to see a Kangaroo or two up close, off to Currumbin wildlife park which we all enjoyed, Peter the bird show as the crocodile was too stressed from a tree coming down days earlier to show up for his display,
After the wildlife park we walked down to the lifesaving club for a drink and prawns by the sea.
We caught the curtisy bus to palm tree to pick up some groceries. Rude Uber driver refused to take us due to having groceries so — her, out next Uber couldn’t of been nicer despite the fact I lost my Maui Jim sunnies probably in his car! Home to our unit for dinner on the balcony.
Monday 23rd of December
Today breakfast in our apartment and a morning walk and off for the day to Runnaway bay for a bbq boat with Anas parents, our gift from sam and Ana for Christmas. We had a really fun day with many laughs, good food and of course Serbian Shots all round!
Sam drove us home via Marina mirage seafood shop Peters, we called in and bought some prawns and Morton bay bugs for a picnic the next day. We bought some prawn and Scollop sticks to have on our way home which were not great.
Tuesday 24th December
Breakfast with Kirstie and Ollie at Commune over the highway which was nice. Again weather not great so quick decision to head off into the madness of Christmas shopping at Pacific fair.
After our shopping we came back to the apartment and had a picnic seafood lunch over the road from our apartment by the sea. Nes spotted us driving by and came for a quick chat.
Wednesday 25th December
Christmas Day 2019
Headed off early for a walk to the point at Burleigh until the rain came in, so Peter and Ollie lined up at the surf club for coffees, told it would be a 15min wait, no other coffee place open so the wait was more like an hour. Lucky for us Glen turned up to pick us up in the rain to see the kids.
We spent an hour in the apartment with Glens kids, then present opening with Kirstie and Ollie which was really nice, happy mumma!
Sam picked us up at twelve for lunch Serbian style, shots food shots good more shots and more shots! We hAd an absolute ball dancing to the resident DJ Sam, and playing Finska
Uber home with a jibbering husband by 8:30pm a long day of eating, drinking and dancing.
Thursday 26th Boxing Day
Off to Byron Bay for the day so Ana and Sam picked us up by 9:30am
We had an easy drive as we where expecting it to be hectic. First stop we dropped Kirstie and Ollie off at the shops while we went to say hi to Jenny Fasso at her home. We then dropped Ana and Sam off for lunch with their friends, while we found Kirstie and Ollie. First stop was Wategos beach, finding a Carpark was challenging. Kirstie wanted to go to Raes for lunch, no chance with the horrible pretentious waiter choosing some guy he thought would spend more cash! Not happy we bought take away coffees and toasted sandwiches from the super nice guy at the coffee cart. Off to spend some time on the beach. Kirstie and Ollie walked back into met us at the Byron Bay hotel for a fantastic afternoon session with Sam, Ana, Joel and Marykey. Jenny Fasso had told us we would love the music of Lisa Hunt and we sure did, such a fun afternoon with Jenny dancing and watching Joel Miller on stage to raining men!
After the band finished we lucked up for a table at restaurant in Byron, which was super nice, especially with having our kids with us!
I drove home as the others in the car had a few drinks, kids laughing at us with the car windows fogging up and Peter trying to figure out the controls on Anas car. Big day but such a fun one
Friday 27th December
Another early morning walk this time started to rain so we had breakfast in Burleigh first before we walked up into the headland, with Kirstie and Ollie. The walk is really beautiful with views back to Surfers and the Tullebudgety river, loved it!
Kirstie and Ollie skateboarded down towards Miami while I walked to the Paddock Bakery and picked up some supplies for lunch back at the apartment before they left.
Kirstie and Ollie got picked up by Sam and Ana to go to Brisbane for a festival.
Finally we got some sun lounge time by the pool, headphones on and my meditation music had a lovely sleep until the kids arrived screaming! Peter went down to the surf club bar to met Slop and Al for a catch up drink or two! As I booked a table at Light Years earlier in the day, I went up to the bar and had a few drinks, more laughs with the boys. Got Slops Uber to drop us off at Light Years only 45min late, but luckily we got a spot on the window bench for a lovely meal (kingfish ceviche yum) walked back to the apartment fairly piddled! Need to go home and detox!!
Saturday 28th December
As I can’t seem to sleep in, awake at 5:30am up I decided to change to an earlier flight due to having to leave the apartment by 9:30am. Went for a walk along the beach at 7:30 and then a quick coffee at the Paddock bakery before packing up to leave. Glen dropped us off at the airport- thank you!
Pretty much a full on week at Burleigh Heads, lots of fun to much alcohol and now in need of a rest!
