We left Tin Can Bay around 9:30am, stopped along the way at Childers a lovely old Queensland farming town on the Bruce Hwy. Totally geared up the the pasting Grey Nomad parade, as a great car park for Caravans. Called into a really cute cafe for a coffee, shopped at the IGA and local butcher then back on the road to Agnes Water. Arrived in Agnes around 3ish, and set up with a few waiting for a stuff up, backing a van is entertainment for the Grey Nomads! Caught up with Lisa and Roger then an old friend Chock popped over to say hi. Happy hour at the smiths and lights out around here by 8:30! Don’t know if we are quite there yet! ๐Ÿคจ

5th September – Wednesday

Early start the Add man is on fire! Popped down to the beach by 7am Stunning, a coffee at the caravan park cafe.

Then the mornings activities begin, bikes out and headed off along the long , very long beach, wind behind us, wonderful! Met a lady who told us just go to the end of the beach and there’s a track to the road! Yeah right! By the last 3km of the beach it’s un-rideable, so walk the bikes get the google maps out. Walk back with bikes another 3kl in the sand to find a lovely sandy uphill track to 1770 Captain Cooks Caravan park. Which I happen to like the vibe, as it’s sites are very big and lush with palms, I would definitely stay there. From there we made our way to the 1770 Marina, to collapse and soak in the views. There happens to be a lady operating her hair dresser from a shed out the back, open to the view of the sea, pretty cool so Peter had a hair cut!

Back on the bike to ride along the road from 1770 to Agnes water, arrived back at 12:30pm. Ah and Stuffed may not be able to move tomorrow, told Peter that ride is going to cost him, I’m definitely getting a Whistler Electric bike, lay by here I come! oh Wind Against us the way back.

Thursday 6th of September

Early start, coffee at the caravan park cafe. Bumped into Chocks daughter and then Jamie Gagaro walked past, small world ๐ŸŒŽ. Then off with Roger and Lisa to walk (speed) the Red Rock Trail, lovely walk along beaches and cliff tops, checked out the Sunrise estate pool, very nice.

Back to the Caravan for lunch then a beach chill.

Went for a drive to 1770, checked out the caravan park on the beach and booked a site for next year.

Popped into the pub, the Tree bar and had a Drink served by a Spunk (from Belgium chili Dad -like all of 20) with the most stunning eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ ever! – and dear Phyllis told us to have the Calamari, which spunk boy made and topped up my Cocktail ๐Ÿธ! A drive back to Agnes checking out all the new estates. Fantasizing over a life up here!

Happy hour and Chock popped in, watched the Richmond v Hawthorn final in our Anex, late night for Lisa and Rog!

Friday the 7th of September

This morning we started off from the caravan at 9:30 for a walk around 1770, that was the plan. But we veared off to the Paperbark Walk first which was so beautiful ๐Ÿ˜ butterflies ๐Ÿฆ‹ everywhere, lush maiden hair ferns, palms and no one else around, Perfect!

Then Peter was keen to try out the Wildtrack on the four wheel track through the Deepwater National Park. Which turned out to be a bit of fun, more pristine beaches with nobody on them.

We took what we thought was the easy way back on the main roads, turned out an hour back to Agnes Water. Finally arrived into 1770 at around 2pm, at the Marina coffee shop. We ran into Penny Miller the only other person at the cafe!

As Penny had a meeting we organized to meet her after we had a walk at the Tree bar. We had a great catch up and great views over the bay. Back to the Caravan Park for happy Grey Nomad hour before lights out 8:30pm feel like I’m on school camp.
