30th August 2018

We left home 5:30am to leave before city peak hour. We had a great run through the city, with news of the massive fire in Footscray

Made it to our old stomping ground Tocumwal for morning tea at the bakery😞nothing stays the same! It used to be a treat to go there, new owners and now not nearly as good. A quick hello to Peters ol mate Mick at the butcher, he or his great shop has remained the same! So a buy up for the trip ahead and a quick photo of the river we spent many summers on with family and friends.

We made it to Parkes for our first night at a The Spicer council caravan park, $26 bucks money well spent as showers good and a nice fire pit. (Sooo much road kill, never seen anything like it due to the drought)

31st of August -Kirsties birthday😢😭😢😢 not with her!

We left Parkes and went back to Nashy the caravan repair man for a quick brake adjustment, $30 bucks and on our way. Unfortunately dear Nashy told us to go the back way to Coonabaraban, not great very bumpy, lesson stay on the Hwy suck it up with the trucks as the Hwy is way smoother!

We had a stop at Peak Hill to check out the open cut goldmine, which was interesting.

Next stop for brunch was Dubbo at a cute little old corner store, then back on the road for our stop for the night at Moree. Well what can I say, looked up wiki camps and checked into the Mehi River caravan park. First impression was shit let’s just lock ourselves in the van, but a walk to the loo via the Bullshit Corner and soon made the experience a bit of fun. By the fire met to old blokes and they entertained us with their travel stories. Named us the in betweeners, and the Chardonnay set drink in the camp kitchens not by the fire! 😃😃

1st of September 2018

Woke early for our big drive, and had a shower in the Sheila’s bathroom, bumping into some ol bloke who as he said as he walked out of the shower with me giving him a look “ah shit is this the ladies I’m not awake just yet” he looked so shocked!

The doors in the Sheila’s showers!

So we are on our way by 8am and hope all the kangaroos are no where near the roads today as I’m not coping with the amount of road kill.

1st stop was Goondiwindi for a stretch of the legs and a bakery fix, stripped off to a T-shirt yay we are in the twenties!

Petrol stop at Moonie, quick look in the pub connected to the petrol station. Lovely wild pigs hang on the walls, impressive stories of the hunt for Peter not me.

A bit of the art work sold at the pub.

Off again on the road and a stop at Wooroolin for a coffee ☕️ to get us through to Tin Can Bay. Nice little stop as it’s a cute town and lovely girls at the cafe.

If I could find a CWA meeting hall just like this near home, I’d be joining up ASAP Maybe I’ll just have to move to Wooroolin! 🤔

Very lucky 🍀 as Peter really felt like a beer here, but continued on our way and five minutes up the road was breathalyzed!

Via Gympie we arrived in Tin Can Bay at the tourist park on Trevally Street around 5:30pm – big day, and very happy to open the car door to warmth! Note-great little caravan park near as a pin, brand new amenities block and pool.

Set up,cooked tea and straight to bed – very tired.

Sunday 2nd of September Fathers Day 2018

After breakfast we walked the beach track to the right of the caravan park and had a coffee. Back to the Caravan park and did a few chores, then off for a bike ride around the town along the beach track. Checked out the sailing club and the dolphin feeding place for tomorrow morning. First drink at the Marina Bar with the wizards long lost brother, complete with purple top and Grey pigtail. Next the local pub and followed by a drink at the RSL club, three Sav Blanc’s and a forgetful ride back to the Caravan Park.

Happy hour then cooked tea in the camp Kitchen, watched the block and bed.

Monday 3rd of September

Up early to feed the dolphins at Tin Can Bay, which was fun but super interesting as well. A injured dolphin in the fifties was hand fed by a local fisherman. The dolphin healed and went out and told the rest of the pod, and now for generations the dolphins have been coming back into Tin Can Bay every morning by 8am to be hand fed. Local retirees run the dolphin centre, charging $10 to hand fed the dolphins. We were so lucky this morning as a mother and baby came into fed. The baby was suckling it’s mother and hitching a ride in her back, it was truly a beautiful sight!

After quite a few work calls we headed off to check out Hervey Bay for the afternoon. A quick drive via the Esplanade and quick decision to do an afternoon Whale watching tour. Sooooo incredibly lucky today we where just off Fraser Island and saw quite a few different groups of whales. The favourite sighting was Three massive hump back whales up ridiculously up close. They actually spouted at us, one the most massive breach, cameras in over drive! My Review – Fantastic Experience! The other boat to show how close they came to the boat.He makes his own Rainbows!

Drive back to Tin Can Bay and had delicious Fish n chips at the local shop. = 🐳🐬🐳🐬🐟⭐️
