This morning we left our Airbnb early passing a baby deer crossing the road.We headed back to Zoe’s for the chia pudding and morning coffee, and a last look at a couple of shops, before heading off from Ucluelet. On the road by 9am to our first stop The Butchart Gardens, where we arrived on a very hot day, and reasonably quiet afternoon. 2:30pm – And it is absolutely incredible, the most spectacular garden’s we have both ever seen. An abandoned limestone quarry was transformed into the dramatic Sunken Garden. The historic gardens where laid out by Mrs. Jennie Butchart between 1904 and 1939, and includes the residence that was remodeled and enlarged for the Butchart’s by architect Samuel Maclure. The tea garden in Butchart Gardens was established by a sixty-five-year-old man named Isaburo Kishida. In 1907. He was a garden designer and built the tea garden at his son’s request. Before 1912, Jennie Butchart requested Isaburo Kishida to build another garden known as the Japanese Garden.
Relaxed State
Roses Roses and more Roses Heavenly!
I want a Gazebo just like this one! The Tea Gardens where absolutely picture perfect, you could not walk by here!
Could not resist an Elderflower G&T and Peter a cold beer on the most adorable verandah ever, at the Tea Gardens.
Arrived into Victoria at our accommodation The Union Club of British Columbia, beside the Fairmont near the Harbour. Quite a funny place it has a dress code, so we kind of came in the side entrance !
A true Gentlemen’s Club stuck in the past, Grandpop would be in his element with the no denim rule! Very old school and kind of quirky in a fabulous position in town for sight seeing.
