Today we had to be off the boat by nine am, so a quick breakfast, goodbyes to the crew and taxi up to the view point of Dubrovnik, with our taxi driver.
. Checked into the Grand Argentina hotel for two nights, a wander around the gardens and walk into the old town. We met up with Bea and Simon, to book into a game of thrones tour. Coffee, loo stop outside the walls looking over the sea at cafe Dubravka for catch up on this blog, before our tour in an hour. Dubrovnik is crawling with tourists, triple the amount from the last time we where here! It’s about to get worse as James Bond movie, Star Wars, game of thrones shows about to be filmed here, and Donald Trump has bought up the land around for a golf course and massive hotel.
12:30pm met Bea and Simon for the Game of Thrones tour, which we all enjoyed, then the photos on the throne thingy.
It started to really rain with a thunder storm, so the four of us headed to the nearest restaurant “Gil’s”, another surprise, as Peter had the freshest tuna steak ever, he raved over. Said our goodbyes to Bea and Simon and wandered around the old town, drinks over the harbour and walked back to the hotel. By that time day nearly over, it’s 5:30pm checked in and straight to the indoor pool- day spa, and who should we find????? Princess 👸 Jo, has spent the afternoon, in her happy place! And Five star Pete in his!
After the swim and spa a quick change to meet Jo and Ged for happy hour.
We ordered the taxi driver from this morning to meet us at the hotel to take us back up the mountain above Dubrovnik to go to a little traditional local family restaurant Konoba Dubrava for Peka. What a ride up, the Taxi driver George was totally pissed! We get in he asks so where do you want to go? Ah we where with him this morning, he recommended and took us there to book in the morning, he laughs all the way up the mountain? Bends much more tight and one way than Arthurs seat, nearly run over three tourists as Peter yelled out to him Look out, Ged hates heights he is freaking out! We arrived alive at the restaurant George asks so what time I pick you up? We are like will call you when we are finished – ah maybe NOT! I asked the lady at the restaurant could we get a different taxi driver as ours was pissed, she could see it too. Anyway the restaurant turned out to be a really great experience, also massive lightening and pouring rain, covering one pour couple as the spouting overflowed. Turned out to be another favourite night as now Jo wants to find another just like it when she meets up with Blake in Zadar.
