A few more snaps along the way to the Colosseum by 9am-
Rookie Mistake! Do Not Ever Have Photo Taken with men in Strange Suits- Particularly these P—–!
First stop the Colosseum on a skip the line tour, which was very entertaining with a crazy old bloke explaining the colosseum with a children’s book, and it worked well! Yes it’s huge and incredible to think when it was built, it would of been stunning in its day. Then onto the next tour guide David for a tour of the Forum, he was young and put a completely different spin on things in a pretty funny way. David was so good we booked another tour with him at 5/30pm.
So between like one and five thirty we had lunch where David recommended right near the Pantheon, my new favourite monument. We went ZaZa Pizza place and followed by a coffee at Sant Eustachio Caffe, voted by the New York Times as the worlds best coffee! ( tracey kay put this on your list) backed it up with the most delicious Gelato! [Punto] When in Rome!
Look for the Elk and you Know you have found the Cafe, just around the corner from the Pantheon!
After walking by one after another famous monuments, mind boggling, photo fest, we took a rest on the hop on off bus seeing more and more sites,-
Rome Parking Style & Anyone for a Selfie pole or Water from the hop on off bus!
Before meeting David again for the 5/30pm tour. David puts things in such a fun interesting way that you really listen, the fountain in the Piazza Navona and another statue, I now love as he explained it so well,if anyone would like his details I have his card. First we went to Tempio Mediano Church, that took us down to the old underground city.
We walked through the Jewish area, where another wedding was taking place, this was absolutely unbelievable, the church, the beautiful chamber music being played outside to the most dressed up women I’ve ever seen.
Then onto the Tevere river over looking the island, to the Pantheon, a few Piazza’s, cat area, my favorite Elephant Statue, past the Pantheon by night then took us to one of David’s favourite restaurant’s which was really traditional Italian, It is called La Ciambella Roma.-
After dinner we walked back to our little apartment 72 Via Vittoria at about 11/30pm yep another huge day! Out side our window you can hear the music from Accademia Di S Cecilia, it’s really special! Just a quiet day in Rome!
